St. Peter's students shine at Brain Bee Neuroscience Challenge
Three talented Year 11 students, Hera Brooking, Sophia Gavrilova, and William Han, have showcased their impressive knowledge at the Brain Bee Neuroscience Challenge, held at the Faculty of Medical Science at the University of Auckland. The trio narrowly missed out on a spot in the highly competitive final round, a testament to their dedication and hard work.
Their journey to the Brain Bee Challenge was supported over the past eight months by fellow student Milly Ruddenklau (Year 12), as part of her International Baccalaureate (IB) Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) project.
The Auckland trip included facilitating visits to various neuroscience labs and to the Pathology and Anatomy museum. The students also engaged in discussions with PhD students, providing the competitors with a unique insight into the world of neuroscience.
The Brain Bee Neuroscience Challenge is a prestigious competition that tests high school students' knowledge of the brain and nervous system. St. Peter’s is incredibly proud of Hera, Sophia and William's achievements, and commends Milly for her outstanding support and initiative. Their participation highlights the school's commitment to fostering a passion for science and encouraging students to explore advanced academic fields.
